GSC Thailand orphanage volunteers work with orphans in Central Thailand to bring light and happiness into the lives of these disadvantaged children. Most of these children have lost their parents, or are from impoverished families or disenfranchised minority groups. Besides spending time providing companionship and recreational activities with the children, GSC Thailand orphanage volunteers also assist teachers in teaching English. In the Thai orphanages, you will not only be a teacher but also a mentor and friend. You will also have opportunity to assist with construction projects, work with the children in orphanage gardens, help organize arts and crafts activities for the children, and coach sports. 
GSC offers Orphanage Care programs anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months in length. Introduction to Service-Learning program participants choose programs 2-to-3 weeks in duration, which include a one-week orientation and training and one-to-two weeks of service. GSC prepares its Short-Term (4 to 8 weeks) and Long-Term (9 weeks or more) Service-Learning Orphanage Program participants with a two-week cultural orientation and teaching English training. Therefore, Short-Term Orphanage Program volunteers are required to participate in a four-week minimum program, which consists of two weeks of orientation and training plus the additional minimum two weeks of project work at the orphanage. Homestays are available for volunteers participating in a six-week minimum program.
