TEACH ENGLISH ABROAD IN THAILAND
Teach English overseas in Thailand with GSC! The Thailand Ministry of Education has prioritized providing English as a Foreign Language (EFL) training to Thai students. GSC is supporting the Ministry to meet this need by providing volunteers trained to teach English abroad. The GSC Teach English in Thailand Program gives individuals who wish to volunteer abroad in Thailand the opportunity to provide much needed English language training to students in rural and urban areas of Thailand. Volunteers have the opportunity of teaching basic conversational and intermediate English in private or public primary or secondary schools. The Teach English in Thailand Education Program is available as part of the Two-Week, Short-Term, Long-Term, and International Internship Programs, as well as GSC's NEW EFL Paid Teaching Program.
Prior to departure, GSC provides international volunteers with a specialized tea
ching manual containing sample lesson plans and activities that will make you an effective teacher throughout your service. Additionally, you'll receive teacher training during the two-week orientation and training session in Singburi from GSC’s in-country partner organization Greenway Thailand. Topics covered include classroom management, what to expect in the classroom, lesson planning and an overview of resources and activities. Previous teaching experience is not required - just a positive attitude and a willingness to approach challenges with patience and enthusiasm!
Because of school vacations in the months of April and October, volunteer opportunities at the schools are limited, and will consist of special projects and day camps. Contact the Thailand Program Coordinator for further details.
EFL Paid Teaching Program
Our NEW EFL Paid Teaching Program is available for participants who can commit to a minimum three-month assignment as a professionally prepared English Instructor in a Thai school. Your guaranteed placement is provided after successful completion of an initial two weeks of orientation and training and receipt of a Teaching English in Thailand certificate. During these three months participants will be provided with a generous monthly stipend to assist with living expenses. While most participants choose to live independently you may also elect to live with a host family, subject to availability. Contact the Thailand Program Coordinator for further details.
