Eric Skaar – Thailand In-Country Coordinator

Eric holds B.A. degrees in English Literature and Peace Studies from St. John’s University (MN) and a M.S. in International Development Management from The American University in Washington, DC. Eric has enjoyed his time in many countries as a student, tourist, teacher and program manager. He worked as a special education counselor in his hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota for three years after college. He then lived in Thailand for two and a half years, employed first as an English teacher for Thai university students and then as a teacher trainer for refugees from Burma in the refugee camps along the Thai-Burma border. He returned to the US to study in Washington DC, where he was a civil society program manager for PACT, a non-governmental organization that works to strengthen local capacity worldwide. He then worked for PACT in Ecuador on projects protecting the Amazon rain forest, in Kenya on a governance strengthening initiative and in Sri Lanka on a post-tsunami assessment project. He recently was Co-Leader and Thai History and Culture Teacher for GlobalQuest, a study abroad organization that provides academic and service learning expeditions in Thailand for high school students. Through his experience, Eric believes that international travel and intercultural exposure is the one of the greatest forms of learning available. He also enjoys outdoor activities, sports, reading and music. Eric lives and manages the Thailand Program from Singburi.

Kantiya Suwan (Ae) - Thailand In-Country Logistics Manager

Kantiya Suwan, also known as Ae, has been working with volunteers and the social development in Thailand for over 6 years. As a Thai native, she has dedicated her life to social projects in Thailand. She has placed over a 2,000 volunteers through GSC’s partner organization Greenway Thailand. Ae continues to cultivate the networks and relationships throughout Thailand. With her many years of experience and her positive attitude, Ae is an expert when it comes to setting up volunteer projects for participants. She currently resides in Singburi, Thailand and helps manage the GSC Thailand program from the Singburi Center.
