| New
Thailand Program and 2006 Dates
|
|
For
two years now, Global Service Corps has been
aspiring to fulfill our commitment and
involvement in the development of Thailand by
expanding our service program there. Therefore,
we are excited to announce the recent expansion
of our Thailand program! Global Service Corps
offers short and long term volunteer
opportunities, as well as internships, in
Thailand in the fields of health, education and
Buddhism. Now, with this recent improvement, GSC
will provide participants additional services we
have previously been unable to offer. These
include a week-long orientation and introduction
to the Thai culture and Thai language training,
an optional 3 day/2 night stay at a Buddhist
Wat, an optional week relaxing on the beach on
Koh Samet (one of Thailand's beautiful islands),
as well as further service opportunities to
fulfill goals you may want to accomplish with
GSC Thailand.
In addition to our
previously mentioned volunteer opportunities,
participants can work at the AIDS Temple (Wat
Phrabat Namphu), a Buddhist monastery located
near Lopburi city.
GSC Thailand will now
operate in Singburi, which is in Central
Thailand, and is about 130 km north of Bangkok.
This is a less developed part of Thailand with
fewer tourists and has a greater need for our
service work!
Participants can live with
Thai hosts who generously introduce them to Thai
Buddhist culture, delicious Thai cuisine and the
many wonderful customs of the country, or stay
at the homebase with other
volunteers.
Due to the shift in our
program, please note that some of the 2006
PROGRAM DATES HAVE CHANGED!
Short-term,
long-term and internship programs now begin on
