The Global Service Corps Experience
Global Service Corps (GSC), founded in 1993, offers international volunteer programs and service-learning experiences currently in Cambodia. GSC volunteer programs are offered year round from two weeks to six months or longer. Volunteers enjoy a true cultural immersion experience by staying in a local homestay, guesthouse, or in the service project’s on-site housing, while working hand-in-hand with local partners. GSC volunteer programs are offered year-round with opportunities to work in the fields of global public health, teach English abroad, child and orphan care, community development and youth leadership training, and Buddhist immersion. All programs begin with project preparation training sessions, and no special skills, knowledge, or experience are required. Volunteers of all ages, including students, families, mid-career professionals, and active retirees are encouraged to apply. Global Service Corps volunteers have an unforgettable experience while providing sustainable, beneficial results to the communities they serve.
Global Service Corps Volunteers
Global Service Corps international volunteer program draws participants from 18 to 85 years of age. In recent years we have had participants from the United States as well as Canada, Europe, and Asia. Participants have a wide variety of backgrounds, education levels and skills. The common bond is a sense of adventure and a desire to make a meaningful contribution to communities in need. While many of our volunteers are college students, we welcome mid-careerists and active retirees as well. We also encourage families, couples, and groups to participate together. Most programs require no specialized training.
Community Service Projects & Service-Learning Volunteer Experiences
GSC volunteering in Cambodia provides a mutually beneficial experience for both the participant and the local community in which they are serving. Global Service Corps differentiates itself from other volunteer abroad programs by providing its volunteers with orientation and training, a network of supportive local counterparts and housing accommodations allowing GSC volunteers to become more fully immersed in a new culture. All GSC service-learning projects are sustainable so that progress will continue when the volunteer returns home.
